Christmas has always been different ever since we moved here. That, or maybe I’m just growing up. Christmas before felt so different, with how things are done. I remember when we were still in the Philippines, that Church is just across. Back when I was a kid, we celebrate it as a big family and we were always excited after Mass, to finish our food so we could open our presents already. This is what every kid is looking forward to, opening of the gifts. With now, it’s still something like that but it feels different.
We still celebrate with relatives here, but the feeling is just different: not everyone celebrates, so you won’t see some of your neighbors. Not everyone says “Merry Christmas” and instead say “Happy Holidays”. This is something I learned and have been saying to people if I don’t know what to actually tell them.
On the left is one of the presents we got for our family from our Uncle. It is a pile of boxes with different chocolates / sweets / desserts inside. We usually get this style of gift from him on Christmas, which is awesome. Also a side note, I really like the way I was able to capture this photo. This is something that I’ve been practicing and wanting to do with my other lens.
During our Noche Buena (as we call it..) I wasn’t able to take photos of the food we had because we got there late. We went straight to eating dinner. In the centre of the table where we ate, there was a big tray of chocolates / sweets. I wasn’t able to try most of them but there was this one milk chocolate that I tried for the first time and it was really good. If you can see it, it’s the one with the white wrapper. (see photos below)
They also had this big mirror just hanging outside one of the rooms. I asked my siblings (YES, I DID) if they want to do a selfie all together in front of the mirror. So my siblings and I did a 4-way selfie. This is something we attempted a couple of times – tried getting both a normal photo and wacky photo. At least for the photos I took, most of them are either blurry, or the color of the photo didn’t turn out nice. For this photo I still had to edit it a bit.
Aside from the individual photos we took, we have our usual family photo / group photo. There are still other photos to be edited, but I’ll just upload this one since this is the best group photo and this is the group photo.
Just before heading home, while everyone else was packing and preparing to go, I went outside for a bit to take a photos, because I noticed that they had Christmas lights with different colors. Aside from that, they had this mini Santa Claus standing under a bush with Christmas lights. I also decided to play around with the lights and do some Bokeh shots.
One of the presents that I got this year is from one of my closest friends. She knows me too well. She gave me this Batman shirt. I haven’t tried it yet but I will soon. Thank you for this!!
How was your Christmas?
Merry Christmas everyone!!
